Maryland Women's Heritage Center

Maryland Women's Heritage CenterJanet and I attended the opening of the Maryland Women's Heritage Center yesterday. The official public opening is set to take place Saturday, June 19 (We were there as guests of our friend Jill Greenberg, the center's executive director.) Yesterday's events included brief speeches by Shoshana Cardin, Francis Glendening, Connie Morella and others. It was an inspiring occasion. It was nice to see people I know (Eugenie Clark, Claire Fraser-Liggett and Rita Colwell) honored along with others (Rachel Carson, Harriet Tubman, Billie Holliday) in the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame, which has existed for a while but now has a home.

The Center is located at 39 West Lexington Street (at the corner of Lexington and Liberty Streets) in Baltimore. Hours of Operation will be Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m..
They are online at mdwomensheritagecenter.org.
